Smash Cake made healthy...

Here she is, a smash cake worth smashing for your little one. I have been working on a cake for kiddos for a bit and think I have finally settled. Here is a carrot cake that is mostly fruit, no sugar, and I took out nut products in case you have concerns about nuts and your little one. I can use alternative flour if you really want to go all out. Sadly the frosting is not something I can do sugar free, but the cream cheese frosting is DELICIOUS. I can do any type of frosting really, just depends on what you want, but the inside of this cake is yummy and moist.

Harajuku Birthday

I was contacted by someone that I work with who asked me to make a birthday cake for her twelve year olds birthday. She told me her daughter loved Harajuku and Purple, so I drew up a design and she said, 'Go for it!'

Here is a close up of the purse, doll, name and numbers that are all fondant and gum paste.

Here is the whole cake, its a strawberry cake, with strawberry cream filling and a buttercream frosting and fondant accents. Happy Birthday Laila, enjoy your cake!!!

Peaches and Cream

I made this cake today as a 'trade' for a friend who gave us some free lift tickets.

Valentine's Day Cake

The last week I made a few Valentine's Day Cakes for some friends and family. This is one of the cakes I made. A double layer chocolate cake, with chocolate/raspberry ganache, with a chocolate buttercream. I was informed that is was rich, delicious, and a great cake for chocolate lovers ;)

Planning, Organizing, Planning, and Organizing

Well, its only been a week since I decided I wanted to dedicate more time to a budding hobbies and passion of mine, and it has been more work in the last week, then it has been the last month.

In just a week I have secured not one, not two, but three more cake orders for this month. I am so excited about what is coming.

I have spent time budgeting, planning, creating documents to track purchases, orders, and supplies, ordering business cards, making contracts, and research, research, research!!! It has been work, and I have enjoyed it. I have begun sketching out ideas, creating ideas, and planning my next cake adventure!

So far I have spent two days doing more research on the best ideas for smash cakes. I have been toying with an idea for a while, and am happy that I think I have made a decision.... more to come, stay tuned!

Welcome!

Hello fellow cake makers, eaters, and even those who do not indulge in the glorious art that is cake making and decorating. Welcome to my blog!

I have officially begun my own personal business, and I am so excited! I am excited to welcome you into my life and would love to show you just how great every event in your life can be with a specialty cake, from me of course :)

You might be wondering why? Why now, or why me? Well I will tell you. A year ago I began my maternity leave for my first born child. March 24, 2011 my life was changed as my beautiful baby boy came into my life. My husband and I have greatly enjoyed our new family together, just a month after my son came into this world, I was shopping at Michael's doing some shopping and saw a flyer to take a cake decorating class. I had this urge to just do it! I have been wanting to for years, but never had a consistent schedule with my job and was never able to commit to classes, so I called my husband to see if we could work it out and signed up. From the first class I was hooked! I signed up for all three series of classes and never turned back. I spent the last year working, raising my son, and perfecting this art that I call a hobby.

So please enjoy, and leave lots of comments and feedback, and of course ask me to do the next cake for your special event!
