Looking for work

Its tough when you decide to have a home business, but its really tough when it starts mostly word of mouth. I have been privileged to have done work for some great people and look forward to more. That being said, my calendar is getting pretty open for cakes in the future, so if you have an event coming up  let me know what awesome cake masterpiece I can create for you. I would love to do it and am always up for a challenge. :)

A June Wedding

My first Wedding Cake was a blast. My sister in law told her sister about me and after chatting briefly she asked me to do her cake. I was so excited as this would be my first Wedding Cake and I have been so excited to for the chance to add to my portfolio. Becki was an excited and easy to please. After a few drawings we finally landed on a design and then all I had to do was plan :)

This wasn't just any wedding either, it was a wedding back in my hometown, so my first cake was a traveling cake, and a wedding cake ;)
I set out to do research and figure out the best way to do this, cause not only was this cake special it was also a cake that would have 2 'fake' tiers since the they didn't want to serve the cake just mostly for pictures. I decided to make the fake tier bases prior to leaving for my parents and bake the cake and do all decorating there.

Here are a couple of shots of me doing the scroll work on the cake. Because my family is so busy, crazy, and full of small kids at this point I was wearing ear buds to block out the noise and keep me from getting distracted. My family was understanding and patient :)

I was very happy with how the cake turned out and so was the bride and groom.

I chose to sneak their names and the wedding date into the scroll work as an after thought and everyone thought it was a great idea and loved it!

Congrats to Brian and Becki Grow!!!

Can You Tell Me How To Get To Sesame Street?

I was so excited to get asked to do this awesome birthday cake for a special little boys 1st birthday. Cupcakes are a lot of work but so much fun when they are finished and I think they were the perfect way to to add fun to this cake.

A non-girly baby shower cake...

I love babies, I mean I really love babies, everything about babies, and everything having to do with babies. I only have one son who currently is 15 months and I miss that little baby (even though I love my little toddler).

I was so excited to be asked to do this baby shower cake and so excited when she told me it was for a baby girl. Then she told me that the parents aren't into the super girly, so to make it more neutral and at first I was a little disappointed, then as I sat down to draw out the design and became more and more excited about working on this cake. Through many tweaks and changes I was finally able to land here and I was so happy with how it turned out. Congrats to this family as they welcome a little girl to their group, and thanks for the opportunity to do this lovely cake.
